You are likely very familiar with the concept of a Terms of Service.

They can often be found on sites when purchasing something online and are usually a necessary component when selling something online as well.

They are an effective way to keep everyone informed.

But, what should (or needs) to be included in a TOS for a membership site?

Do you require a lawyer to draw one up based on your specific offering and customer base?

Does geographic location come into play?

These are good questions to ask and finding the answers is even better.

Membership Terms of Service

So, how do you come up with one?

You could do some research and see what others in your industry are using. There are a lot of them out there and something similar may be enough. Of course, with a Terms of Service, you want to be sure.

The conversation in the forum is looking for the possibility of templates or some type of starting point. Anything to get the ball rolling.

Are these available? If so, where can they be found?

Not having to start from scratch is always helpful.

There are likely Insiders reading this now who have already gone through this process when first setting up their site. The need for a TOS was identified and one was created and is currently in use on your site.

If you fit into that category, we encourage you to visit the forum and share your experience. You might have the answers others are searching for.

Or, perhaps you are a site owner who has additional questions that haven’t been brought up yet.

You can also feel free to visit this forum thread and post your thoughts.
