There are a number of popular membership models being used these days.
It doesn’t take much searching online to locate a course based site or a publisher delivery system. Drip content membership sites are easy to find as well.
That is partly because these tried and tested methods are proven to be effective ways of providing protected content to members. They are popular for good reason.
Of course, there are some not-so-common membership models that can be just as effective.
This edition of Forum Focus looks into one method that may sound a bit unusual at first.
It can seem counter-intuitive at first. If you allow someone to decide how much they want to pay, won’t they just choose the cheapest option? Or, decide not to pay at all.
Wouldn’t this simply lead to a large number of members who paid little or nothing, now requiring the same amount of management as those who paid more?
We all want to save money. So paying a higher price than what is required can feel strange (to say the least).
You don’t see this payment method in the grocery store so why would it work for a membership site?
It may be surprising to find out what some people are willing to pay in a situation like this. This forum thread includes some opinions that suggest a “Pay What You Want” model can work.
There are a lot of factors to consider and we invite you to join the conversation and share your own thoughts and ideas.
It is definitely an interesting topic to discuss.
