WishList Insider – Forum Focus 03

We realize a lot can happen throughout the course of a week.  Everyone can become busy with a little of “this” and a lot of “that” during their day to day lives so it’s not always easy to keep on top of all the useful and helpful posts within the Insider Forums.

For these reasons we have decided to apply some focus to a number of posts each week that we believe can benefit our Members.

Read on for summaries and links to this week’s “Forum Focus” Posts.

How to track conversions with WordPress?

Had to do a little digging to find this thread as it’s from September but I felt that there was some good info being shared between John, Johannes and Jeff.

“The Three J’s” (sounds like a good nickname to me 😉 discuss the merits of multiple methods that can be used to track conversions using your WordPress site.

Google Analytics is mentioned and here is an excerpt from one of Jeff’s posts:

1. You can see how many people hit your landing page.
2. You can see how many people get to your sales page from your landing page (make sure that’s the only way they can get there).

3. You should already know how many sales you’ve made (from that specific landing page–presumably, it’s for a single product).

John mentions the option of including a tracking pixel on the WishList Member registration page which has proven to be a solid option as well.

Check out the post for more info and please feel free to keep the thread going with any conversion methods you have tried or used yourself – both successful and unsuccessful.

Andrew started what turned into a very interesting thread by asking the question:

WP-estore? Anyone here use it?

Leon, John, M and David all chimed in with some solid contributions in regards to how WP-estore can be used with a WishList Member site.

Leon gives a link that explains how to integrate WishList Member with WP-estore and M also mentions that the support team at WP-estore is very helpful which is always a plus 😉

Major google issue affects us all

I was unaware of the interest in this Google issue before I read over Bradley’s post.

It seems that Google is taking exception with what they define as “bridge pages” and this could affect the marketing of certain sites.

Anyone using Adwords should have a look at this post to see what is happening with this situation, especially since it could affect you and your advertising.

  1. Stu McLaren says:

Tracking is definitely important and people don’t do enough of it (we’re guilty of this).

Kudos to the “3 J’s” for a great discussion.

  2. Nice thoughts. It would be hard to chart one’s business if one did not know here they are. Simple navigation 101.

  3. Thanks for the heads-up on the Google issue
