Question On Cancelling Automatic Payments From Paypal

Have you ever wanted to change the payment schedule for your Members, but weren’t exactly sure how to go about it?

Maybe you want to create a one-time payment (instead of monthly) option similar to the Insider who started this Forum thread.

There are a few things to be aware of and some choices you can make along the way to ensure things run smoothly.

Find out what worked in this case and feel free to ask any questions that are more applicable to your situation.

Can I Change Unsubscribe Language In Broadcast Emails?

If you have ever found yourself wanting to adjust the Unsubscribe text that appears within the WishList Member broadcast emails, then you’ll likely want to check out this conversation.

A work-around is proposed using the Language Edit feature of WishList Member that may just do the trick for you.

Our team always works towards adding new features to WishList Member, but in the meantime, these types of work-arounds can be just the thing needed for a quick adjustment.

This is another reason why participating in the Forums is beneficial. Out-of-the-box solutions can be considered and discussed.

Have a look to see if this may be something you can use.

Exam/Assessment PlugIn

Okay, I’m going to do my best to NOT make this sound like a commercial 🙂

In this Forum thread, an Insider asks about an Exam type plugin that will require a quiz to be taken in order to upgrade Members to the next Membership Level. It just so happens that we developed a Bonus PlugIn in the past called WL Quiz that actually handles that.

The ability to offer a test to your Members in order for them to upgrade is a very effective learning tool.

You can head over to this conversation in the Forum to see if this might be a good fit for your site.

Note that all the currently available previously released Bonus PlugIns can be found for sale here.

The Power Of Ethics – Part 2

What do you attribute to a membership site’s success?

Maybe you offer the best content or the lowest prices. Or perhaps your site addresses a specific niche.

That all may be true, but there’s something else that will contribute to your success and help others along the way.

By harnessing the power of ethical behavior, you can feel good about what you are offering while encouraging new members to sign up and existing members to stick around.

Retention, Retention and More Retention

“How do I keep my members from leaving and leaving for good? I want them to stay as long as possible.”

I hear this quite a lot.

I’ve also thought about it many times myself. Retaining your members is vital and you can certainly come up with a systematic process to help achieve this, but I believe it goes even deeper than that.

Don’t get me wrong, there are defiantly consistent steps to take, but there are some other more uncommon tactics to be aware of as well.

Don’t Prevent Your Members From Having Fun – Part 2

Even if your site is known for including the answers to your genre’s oh-so-troubling problems, you are still at risk of driving paying members away if your content is simply too boring.  We looked into this in Part 1 of this Series.

Years later, we still remember teachers who gave us required, yet inspired lessons that made learning fun. Lessons you remember above others since you were actually enjoying yourself at the time.

You can add that same “Let’s make learning fun” philosophy to your membership site.

Your members will appreciate it.

WishList Insider Is Back!

We wanted to let everyone know that we experienced some down time yesterday (February 5th, 2013) due to a hacker.

Needless to say, it was a very eventful time for all of us on the WishList Team 🙂

We have resolved all the issues and we have restored as much as possible from a backup.  We were able to recover most everything except for a small amount of comments and Forum conversations over the course of about one day.  We are sorry about any of these lost Comments.

Again, we’re sorry for any issues this may have caused anyone, but we should be back to normal now.  We have a few more things we are doing behind the scenes as well but WishList Insider should be functioning as normal for you again.

Note that due to the issues caused by the hack, WishList Insider appeared back online for different people at different times based on location.

Thanks to everyone for your patience through this.  We do appreciate everyone being so understanding.  Our team was dealing with a lot to get everything resolved and the Insiders were very supportive!

Don’t Prevent Your Members From Having Fun – Part 1

People join and remain members of a membership site for two main reasons:

  1. You have a solution to their problem.
  2. You make solving the problem enjoyable.

Surprisingly, the “Enjoyment Factor” can often be over-looked. But, it’s an extremely import aspect of a successful and inviting community.

When people have fun while learning, they stick around longer and actually pick things up more easily as they relax and their stress levels are lowered. These are all things that contribute to elevating your service above your competition.

How are you making your membership site fun?
