Pay What You Want – What I Learned From A Comic Book

Have you ever been presented with the option to pay the price you wanted to for something?

I’m talking about you being able to choose the exact amount you want to spend. There is no price tag and no set cost. It can even be free if you want.

Of course, every one would decide to pay nothing, right?

Well, not necessarily. In fact, it might be surprising to find out just how many people would actually choose to pay when they are not required to.

Goodbye Google Reader

I know, I know! I could hardly believe it myself.

Google Reader is gone!

It was actually put to rest on July 1st, 2013. Many people relied on Google Reader and die-hard fans were hopeful that the talk about losing this tool was just a rumor.

But, alas, it is true. Many tears may have flowed for this loss.

Okay… this news may not be all THAT tragic 🙂

I’m sure we will all continue to move forward and get those RSS feeds working and allowing members to continue receiving their updates.

Can You Raise Prices Without Losing Members? – Part 2

For most businesses, raising prices is a pretty standard practice. But when it comes to membership sites this adjustment tends to make members unhappy.

Despite the financial necessity to raise prices, a membership site increasing its cost to members can directly lead to those members cancelling. The result being that the financial situation is then much worse than before.

In Part 1 of this series we looked into ways to raise prices and minimize any negative effects. This time around we’ll discuss how to only apply price increases to some members, reward early adopters, and some thoughts on price increases in general.
